Care Flight transports woman after jump

Azle Police offi cers and Azle Fire Department were dispatched to the 1600 Block of Hwy. 199 East on Thursday, April 23 at 4 p.m. with reports of a female who jumped from the elevated service roadway. The woman was taken by Care Flight to a hospital. As of press time Tuesday, the victim remained hospitalized with unknown injuries. Photo by Lee Godbold

Abbott announces limited business reopenings, but questions remain

Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that the state will allow retail businesses such as restaurants, movie theaters, malls and others to reopen effective Friday, May 1.

Police take first round in the Battle of the Badges

Pictured are Azle Fire Chief Will Scott (left) and Azle Police Department Chief Rick Pippins donating blood during the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive. The event was a huge success. with ballots cast at two blood drives in Azle by Carter Bloodcare. They final count came in with the Azle police winning 42-32. Chief Scott will have to hold up his end of the bargain and take a photo in a prisoner jumpsuit in the Azle P.D. holding cell. The chiefs were good sports and even voted for each other’s department on their ballots. The drive resulted in the collection of 31 whole blood units, four double red cell units, two plasma donation and two platelet donations for a grand total of 39 units of blood. Neighborhood celebrates man’s 97th birthday

Azle resident Virgil Sisk celebrated his 97th birthday on Sunday, April 19 with immediate family and numerous friends from his neighborhood.

On Monday, April 20, at 12:32 p.m., police were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision in the 1600 block of NW Parkway. Traffic was closed to one lane during the investigation. One female was reported with unknown injuries, and there was a possible second victim. The description of the other vehicle, the extent of damage and reported injuries were unknown as of press time on Tuesday. Parker County Sheriff Deputies assisted in traffic control. Pelican Bay extends disaster declaration

In a very brief council meeting via Zoom, the Pelican Bay city council approved Ordinance 260 extending the local disas-ter for public health emergency to April 30. The second amended ordinance was set in place on March 30 and was set to expire on Wednesday, April 15.

Parker County indicts Azle man on firearm possession charges

Parker County jury indicted an Azle man on possession charges on Thursday, March 19.

Senior center still providing meals while closed

Although the Azle Senior Center has been shut down since the middle of March, participants are still receiving meals by delivery of the Sixty and Better program.
