Kye, a first-grader at Walnut Creek Elementary, celebrated being one year cancer free on Feb. 6. Friends and family gathered to celebrate this huge milestone a little early at Central Park in Azle last Thursday.

At the Monday night meeting of the Azle Independent School District Board of Trustees, Dr. Randy Mask presented the recommendation of the Long Range Facilities Planning Committee (LRFPC) to the board in regards to a possible bond election in May. The LRFPC has been meeting each week over the last two months to discuss the needs of the growing school district and putting together a bond package for voters.
Congressman Ron Wright of Texas’ 6th Congressional District, passed away on Feb. 7 two weeks after contracting COVID-19. Wright had also been receiving treatment for cancer in the last few years. Wright was a graduate of Azle High School in 1971.
On Jan. 27, Azle patrol officers received information that an unnamed business located at 1021 Southeast Parkway in Azle was possibly operating an illegal game room.
