Azle police reported Friday afternoon that an Azle woman reported missing on Wednesday had died in a car crash in Reeves County.
Police in Azle were informed of Ella Arn’s death from the Department of Public Safety, according to a news release from the Azle Police Department. Reeves County is located in West Texas, west of the Midland-Odessa area.
The police release said APD took a report late Wednesday of a missing senior citizen identified as Arn, a resident of Azle. Her information was entered into a state-wide database system, along with her vehicle information, police said.
“Law enforcement was unable to track Mrs. Arn's movement as she did not possess a GPS device or cell phone for that purpose,” the release stated. “Our Criminal Investigations Division determined places Mrs. Arn had stopped; however, law enforcement was unable to intercept her.”
The next evening, Thursday, DPS notified APD that Arn was involved in a serious motor vehicle collision in Reeves County and had died from her injuries. DPS is investigating the collision. Arn was 83, according to a previous APD release.
APD’s release on Friday contained no further information.
