Camden Logan broke the 1,000-point mark on a three-point shot to beat the buzzer at halftime against Elevate Prep.
BY JEFF PRINCEScoring his 1,000th career point on the varsity basketball team at Azle Christian prompted Camden Logan to react as he often does after doing something remarkable.
He smiled and continued about his business.
“He took it in stride,” head coach Ryan Rollins said. “Didn't act any different really. Basic Camden style.”
The Crusaders were on the road playing Elevate Prep. Logan’s basket that put him over the 1,000 mark was an exciting one. The three-pointer beat the buzzer to end the first half.
“It was very important because it gave us momentum going into half,” Rollins said.
Logan is the first player coached by Rollins to score 1,000.
“You don't see it very often,” the coach said.
Logan, a senior, has been a four-year varsity player.
“The growth I have seen as a player and a person in the two years I have been here has been amazing,” Rollins said. “I know you don't get these kinds of players or kids very often, so I enjoy coaching and just watching him. He is just an amazing kid.”
Logan leads by example and sets a light tone when needed.
“He's always happy and loves his teammates, and they love him,” the coach said.
Logan competes at the Class 1A private school but would be just as successful at a large school, the coach said.
“He gets double teamed every game and still averages 24 points,” he said.
A college will “get them a good player in Camden Logan” one day soon, Rollins said.
And when that happens, Logan will most likely flash a smile and go about his business.
