Volleyball season underway for Lady Hornets
Wednesday, August 22, 2018

No high school sports season begins with more of a flourish than volleyball. And that’s true for Azle (5-10), too. The 2018 year began with a trip to Joshua back on Aug. 7. Since then, AHS has played in two tournaments and faced another non-district foe in Bridgeport – a match the Lady Hornets swept in their home opener, 25-15, 25-15, 25-14 Aug. 14. In between, Azle has played in Carrollton and Granbury tournaments. Coach Elizabeth Snyder said, “We’ve been super busy. “We have tons of heart and are a fun group to watch this year.” AHS has a new district with Colleyville Heritage, Boswell, Chisholm Trail, Grapevine, Birdville, Saginaw, and Brewer. – a tough group in the new 7-5A. Four non-district matches remain in August before district play starts Friday, Sept. 7 at home against Birdville. Snyder said, “Every time we play, we look better and better. Our team is looking good.”
