On Monday, Nov. 12, 2018 Nancy Powell Bowen went to be with Jesus and join her beloved husband William Perry Bowen, Jr. She passed away peacefully in her home.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Moore Memorial Gardens 1219 N. Davis Dr. Arlington, Texas 76012, with services immediately following at 2 p.m.

Nancy was born June 19, 1930 in Jacksboro, Texas to Oscar Bernard Powell and Nannie Merle Bryant Powell. She was valedictorian of her class at Euless High School and went on to graduate from North Texas State College with a degree in English, which is probably why she was a master at crossword puzzles.

After marrying Perry Bowen in 1949, she spent 47 years (this is not a typo) volunteering as financial secretary of Monica Park Christian Church in Garland, Texas. Nancy also worked at Oil Well Supply and volunteered many years at Memorial Hospital in Garland.

She was preceded in death by her sister Anna Kathrine Powell Wilkinson and her two brothers Lewis James Powell and William Harrell Powell.

Nancy is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Kathrine Graves and husband Richard of Azle, Texas and Jane Elisabeth Shoppa and husband James of Westlake, Texas; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special “thank you” to Nancy’s friends and the staff at Eagle Crest Villa in Azle. Nancy was a loving wife, mother and friend and her memory will be cherished always
