1950 - 2019

On Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019, Martha “Marti” Ann Horstman, loving wife and mother of three children, passed away at the age of 68 surrounded by her loving family.

Marti was born on Feb. 11, 1950 to Cathryn Elizabeth (Schwegman) and Herbert Jasper Farley. On Dec. 27, 1975, she married Gaylord “Sam” Noah Horstman. Together they raised two daughters, Christine and Ashley, as well as a son, Matthew.

Her career spanned from working at McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis, Missouri thru the ‘70s, to the DoD in Fort Worth, Texas from the ‘80s until her retirement in 2007. Marti had a passion for animals of all sorts. From the donkeys that she tended in her back pasture, to the many dogs and cats she loved so much. She was especially known for her witty remarks, along with her love of sports, gardening and movies.

Marti was preceded in death by her brother, Michael.

Survivors include husband, Gaylord; their three children, Christine, Matthew and Ashley; three grandchildren, Brett, Olivia and Henrietta; her brother, David and his wife, Donna; sister-in-law, Meredith; as well as her nieces Laura, Beth, Sarah, and nephew Jason.

The memorial service will be held at her childhood home in West Alton, Missouri this spring.
