Mrs. Hoover was born on July 31, 1935 to Opal and Carl Barton. She attended North Fort Worth Baptist Church during her childhood years and graduated from Northside High School at 16 years of age.

After meeting Wendal E. Hoover in early 1952, they married in August of that same year and moved to Springtown, Texas, where Mr. Hoover was a teacher. After only 18 months, they moved to Azle, Texas, where they made their home for the next 57 years as Mr. Hoover was Superintendent and Mrs. Hoover was a teacher.

Glenda gave birth to three children-Lana Kay, Keith Wendal, and Lisa Ann and the entire family were members of Azle Christian Church where she served as diaconate, a Sunday School teacher, Communion service coordinator, Vacation School Director, as well as facilitating many other church functions.

She was a member of the Retired Teachers of Azle and the Azle Garden Club, and was the ultimate hostess, welcoming people from across the town of Azle to her many parties and gatherings. All were made to feel welcome in Glenda’s home, no matter their station in life.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Wendal, her son, Keith, her parents, and sister, Carlyne.
